In early Spring and late Autumn, we challenge ourselves with a range of grade one, two and three white water rapids through the gorge at Bright - starting our trip by meeting near the Ovens River footbridge, where we allocate rafts, rig with life jackets and helmets etc, and car shuttle your vehicles to the pull-out point. We then kayak down river learning how to negotiate the rapids as we go, finally finishing our trip at Ashwood Avenue. A great adventure suitable for those looking for an achievable challenge. Suitable for 13 years plus (a basic swimming ability is required).


  • Days: Selected weekends, summer school holidays or by arrangement
  • Times: By arrangement; normally Mornings 9:00am to 12:00pm; Afternoons 1:30pm-4:30pm
  • Location: Ovens River, Bright
  • Age Guide: A wonderful family adventure suitable for 13 years plus (a basic swimming ability is required). The river is not deep and you are wearing a lifejacket, but you must be comfortable with moving water in case you fall in.
  • Price Guide: $155pp for advertised adventures, or book a private tour with us.
  • Crafts we use for the trip: Two-person inflatable sports rafts, single-person packrafts or a small white water self guided raft.
  • What's Included: Two leaders, all safety equipment (helmet, lifejacket etc), kayaks and paddles.
  • Meeting Place: End of Hawthorn Lane near ovens River footbridge -driving from Great Alpine Road or Mountbatten drive, Riverside
  • What to Bring/Wear: 
-closed-toe footwear (runners, boots, river shoes, beach shoes; NOT sports sandals with open toe)

- Bathers(underneath), shorts and a T-shirt or top depending on the weather. Some participants prefer to wear a wetsuit - recommended for those of slight build. 

-Towel, warm clothing and a spare change of clothes

-sunscreen, water and snacks

- Personal items, eg. Personal medication
