On this lesson/tour we provide tuition on groomed, tracked and untracked snow then in the afternoon, we take you on an extended tour on the cross-country trails, plus (snow permitting) a backcountry tour around the 4 km trail through the “Valley of the Gods” or other backcountry areas.

The aim is to experience and practice ski skills for travel on ungroomed natural snow by the end of the day 

• Duration: 5hrs
• Location: Cresta Valley (Note that if conditions at Buffalo are poor we can offer this tour in the Alpine National Park between Hotham and Dinner Plain as an alternative location
• Lesson/tour times:
  - 10 am meet at Cresta Valley 
• Best for: Confident beginners or Intermediate skiers, recommended minimum age 14
• Equipment: Your skis, boots, and poles must be hired before you arrive (see the end of page). We have no hiring facilities on the mountain.Steel edge back country skis required with well fitting boots (Plastic edge groomed trail skis not suitable) 

*Children under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult on the tour.

Not all ski hire shops hire cross-country skis and only some hire steel edge skis and boots suitable for our back country touring days. 

The hire shops listed below are the only businesses we know of in the region that currently stocks XC skis, boots and poles for rental. Remember to allow enough time to have your boots and skis properly fitted before you travel up the mountain for your lesson or tour.
