Dinner Plain is an Alpine village located next to the Great Alpine Road a few kilometres East on Mount Hotham. There are several abseil options near Dinner Plain. The location used during the Dinner Plain Alpine festival are the Dinner Plain crags close to Dinner Plain. 

Beginners Abseiling Courses will be operating Saturday and Sunday at the 2022 Dinner Plain Mountain Adventure Festival. These courses are administered by an experienced local guide, includes all equipment and training and are perfect for beginners.


  • Days: Saturday 22nd January and 23rd January 2022
  • Times: Two sessions each day of the festival - 9 am to midday and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm 
  • Location: Dinner Plain
  • Age Guide: Suitable for 12 years upwards (Children under 16 to be accompanied by a participating adult) 
  • Price Guide: $125pp
  • What's Included: All ropes, helmets, harnesses and climbing equipment are provided. You will abseil with one of our experienced guides, who will coach you and ensure your safety as you "learn the ropes".
  • Meeting Place:  We meet at the Dinner Plain Hut just inside the entrance and next to the Dinner Plain visitor’s car park
  • What to Bring/Wear: 

-Top with a neck which can tuck in (no short tops)

-Long trousers are advisable

-Rubber-soled shoes (Runners or bushwalking boots)

-Sunscreen and water

-Appropriate clothing for the weather
